Umyu Admission into English

Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Katsina State, Nigeria hereby announces the introduction of its one session intensive English Language Immersion Programme for candidates from non-English speaking and other countries as from the 2016/2017 academic year.

The Programme is aimed at providing a solid grounding for non-English speakers and other members of the non-English speaking public wishing to improve on their knowledge of English in order to facilitate their contact and interaction with Anglophone environment for academic, business and other purposes.
Eligibility for the Programme

The Programme is open to holders of the baccalaureat certificate in the Francophone education system or its equivalents in other education systems. However, candidates with lower qualifications but with appreciable knowledge of English and capable of benefiting from the Immersion Programme are eligible for admission into the English Language Immersion Programme

Duration of Programme

The English Immersion Programme of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University will run for one session of seven months divided into two semesters.

Examination and Certification

Each semester will terminate with an end-of-semester examination, which will be preceded by continuous assessment exercises. All participants will be issued Attestation of Attendance while students successful in the examinations will be issued certificate indicating the level of their performance.

Accommodation

All students enrolled in the Immersion Programme will be accommodated in the students’ hostels of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University. Students wishing to make their own accommodation arrangements will be free to do so.

Students accommodated in students’ hostels will be expected to maintain maximum level of cleanliness and to handle hostel facilities with care as any students found to be involved in careless use of facilities will be barred from the hostels. The hostel fees is charged N15, 000 (Fifteen Thousand Naira Only)

Fees

Each student will be expected to pay N65, 000 (Sixty Five Thousand Naira), to cover tuition, accommodation. Medical and books fees. Prospective students are expected to settle the fees in full through the University Account before the commencement of the Programme. Government-sponsored students are also required to comply with this requirement. Fees once paid ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

Immigration Requirements

All students are required to enter Nigeria with valid travel documents (international or ECOWAS passport including the Yellow Card) and declare same at the appropriate entry point. Additionally, all foreign students will have to be identified by their respective Embassies in Nigeria before they can be admitted into the English Immersion Programme of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University.

Intending students should purchase the Programme’s application form from the Office of the Director School of Pre-Degree & Remedial Studies, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University upon the payment of N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira Only) or Click here to complete online application form.
